Pedonian Fairies

Now you might be thinking, " What kind of name is Pedonian for a fairy?" So I'll tell you. Pedonians live in a neighboring country to DorOthea called Pedonia. The reason it is called that is because The Pedonians use their feet more that their wings. The DorOthians think this to be ridiculous so they call them Foot Fairies, which is a rather derogatory name for them.

Pedonians are more sensible than the DorOthians though. They think things through before charging ahead. The Pedonians are also more protective about their home than the DorOthians are. They have a good sized and well trained army, but never really go out to war much. The DorOthians keep to themselves and for the most part leave the Pedonians alone.

Also the Pedonians style of clothing is very different from the DorOthians and Darrs. The lady Pedonians wear short skirts and dresses as we do these days because they can't walk in skirts that are twice their height. This also is frowned upon by the DorOthians, Who think it is disgraceful to show how short your legs are.

There are many favorite styles in Pedonia. Children have the most diversity of styles out of all the age groups in Pedonia. Some dresses for girls have points coming off the shoulders and over the sleeves, and boys wear short breeches and stockings like their fathers. Some of the favorite things to wear though are covers for your wings when you are not using them. Covers will often match your outfit in color and style and are different wing shapes too. Here is an example for a young girl's dress and wing covers.

Darr Fairies

There are other lands than just DorOthea that Fairies live in. The desert that borders DorOthea is called the Darr desert. There is a main city, a capital you might say, of Darr that is called Darr too. Most of the Darr fairies live in the city of Darr and fill market places with merchandise. The city of Darr's styles in Building design and architecture can be compared to the style of the middle east.

Not only is the architecture in the Arab style but also most of their clothing style too. When the fairy men of Darr go out to the desert, they wear turbans made of sand cloth. and all the fairy women wear long tunics when going out to the desert. But besides the Arab style for Darr clothing there also is a hint of what we see as the middle ages. lots of the young lady fairies wear dresses comparable to the 1200s in England. This is a good example.

DorOthian Fairies

My favorite fairy is the DorOthian fairy. DorOthian fairies live in DorOthea, a large forest filled with fairy homes and Palaces. Only Kings, Queens, Dukes and Duchesses live in Palaces, all other DorOthian fairies live in tree villages or in their own private tree.

DorOthians have a very distinct style of dress compared to other fairy groups. DorOthians tend to have long flowing dresses and skirts that extend far past their ankles. This style of skirt is very hard to walk in, but that is okay because DorOthian fairies hardly ever walk. They always fly. The fancy dresses are usually the ones that are this long, everyday dresses are only a little past the ankle. like this dress.

This is a good example of a common young fairy girl. She is not wearing the clothes she would wear around the house but more of a fancy party dress. Her dress was sewn by her mother out of spider silk and spun cotton.

DorOthian fairies have moth-like wings that are an off white color, and are about as wide across the shoulders as the fairy is tall. Some fairies have butterfly wings and that is looked upon as very beautiful, but rare.

Stars Above

Fairies are like stars. They shine with love and Dance with joy. Their styles of dress are the same as their feelings. Sometimes they are quiet and soft, and sometimes they are bursting with happiness and energy.

I hope to catch some glimpses of them while working on my blog so that I can show you their wonderful styles. I already have lots of their dresses drawn out on paper, but it would be so much nicer to see one in person. Their styles in dress are fantastic! Skirts made out of Daisy petals sewn together with silk, and gowns made of lilies. Tiny designs embroidered on hems of dresses and bonnets made of satin.

I have tried to draw these Fairies but I can not do as good as the real thing.
